Come sail the Great Lakes and the Seven Seas with Big Top Chautauqua’s Blue Canvas Orchestra. Their fantastic production draws on the bountiful collection of sea shanties, sailing songs and rowdy sailors-in-port songs that have come down through time from those that roamed the great waters aboard vessels of wood with canvas sails. Of course not all of the wayfaring men returned to dry land. f you’re looking for a great adventure, a good-timing, rousing night of great music – climb aboard the big ship Chautauqua. Sea Shanties, work songs, voyageur tunes, drinking songs, ghost stories… come join the crew you landlubber you.

First broadcast in 1994, Tent Show Radio is a 59-minute weekly radio program assembled from the best live recordings from the acclaimed musical acts that perform at the Big Top Chautauqua Tent each summer. Running 52 weeks a year, Tent Show Radio is broadcast on 31 listener supported radio stations across 6 states and online world wide.

Tent Show Radio is independently produced by Big Top Chautauqua and is made available around the country at no cost to public radio stations and to podcast listeners.

A nonprofit performing arts organization since 1986, Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua provides entertaining and educational cultural activities with an emphasis on performances that celebrate history and the environment.
